Designed for learners who can understand and use some simple Chinese characters and sentences to communicate, and prepares them for continuing their Chinese studies. In HSK 1 all characters are provided along with Pinyin.

Who can appear for HSK
The HSK (Level I) is intended for students who have studied Chinese for a semester (half an academic year), with 2-3 class hours in a week. These students have mastered 150 commonly used words and basic grammar patterns.
Understanding Level After HSK
Test taker who are able to pass the HSK I can understand and use very simple Chinese phrases, meet basic needs for communication and possess the ability to further their Chinese language studies.
Listening, Reading and Writing each have a maximum score of 100. HSK 1 and 2 therefore have a maximum score of 200 with 120 points required to pass. The higher levels have a maximum of 300 points with 180 points required to pass. There is no minimum amount of points required for each of the sections as long as the sum is over 120 or 180 points respectively.

Test fees might differ due to exchange rates of different countries. You need to contact the test center you wish to take the test for test fees.
Test takers will receive the results for the new HSK test issued by Hanban within three weeks after the test.
